Disc required in drive for play. Disc pictures/Backups don't work.
I lately purchased Civ four Gold and the enlargement disc 'Beyond the Sword'. Although I find this version fascinating, it simply is not up to the playable standards of previous versions. I dearly want I had not given away my copy of Civ three as a result of that model is superior to Civ 4. Except for the strange feeling of being eliminated a step from the actual recreation play which was not a factor in earlier versions, Civ 4 has 3 major faults: 1. The 3D map results add nothing to game play and infrequently will get in the way. This graphic upgrades were unnecessary. 2. The lack of a printed handbook is a significant handicap for a recreation that depends on accessible information. Sorry, the CivEncyclopedia simply isn't good enough. 3. The need to have the disk inserted to play is a significant drawback. Backup disks do not work. That is particularly a handicap for laptop computer users. Total, because I like the sport's traditional idea of creating a civilization, I've rated this model as '3 stars', however for older fans of the genre take into account this a '2 star' game' and preserve your older version in case your laptop can help it.
